Cool website to trade, rent or buy

A friend just sent this link http://borrowme.com/ which I had to pass on without “thoroughly vetting” to use corporate lingo. It looks like a combo of www.freecycle.org and www.craigslist.org – a community by community way to free up resources, to buy or trade or rent. On Whidbey Island, we are creating our own local currency www.whidbeycx.org which is a social network that allows trades among the members in “terras”, a unit of value currently a bit like a dollar. These other websites simply move stuff around on a 1-1 trade. A local currency facilitates trade like dollars do – you can pay for goods or services and you can save and spend in the whole network. Whatever, in these times we need to get creative about getting our needs met, and these are ways that happens on a shoestring.
